Charges of the Olympains (plus a few more)

The Charge of Hestia

I am Hestia, last born, yet first
I am the flame that does not stray
The sacred hearth where life is nourished
The gentle lamp that lights your way
        Through tempest and through storm

Neglect me and you’ll know the cold
I guard the bonds of family
The centre none may overthrow
Through strife and war’s cacophony
I am shelter- safe from harm

I am kettles song, and rising bread
I guard the life within the walls
I am visions glimpsed in golds and reds
My hearth is here for one and all
I am the flames that keeps you warm

Hestia- the source of peace
The first invoked, the last released
Through my fire is life transformed

I am Hestia, the First and the Last, the flame that never strays from its stone seat
I am the ember that waits beneath the ash, the breath of heat in the morning’s chill
I am the quiet centre of the turning world, no temple I have, for every home is my shrine
I am the kettle’s song, the bread’s rising, the lamp’s glow against the storm
I am the peace after the feast, the hush when the last guest has gone, the steady flame in your heart

I am Hestia, the First and the Last
Neglect me, and your table shall grow cold, your words ring hollow, and your walls remember no laughter
Keep me burning, and I will keep you safe

 The Charge of Zeus

Zeus I am, the thunder in the sky
My voice commands the clouds to part
I sit enthroned on mountain high
And every mind and every heart
        Answers to my rumbling call

I am the storm that breaks the night
I am the storm that darkens day
I am who grants the sacred rites
I set the laws, the proper ways
And hold life’s fate in thrall

I am the lightning that draws the eye
The unknown stranger at your door
I crown the good, condemn the lie
I safeguards every oath that’s sworn
And cause mankind to rise and fall

Father of all gods and man
I bind the Fates with iron hand
I am Zeus, the lord of all

I am Zeus, cloud-gatherer, wide-seeing, Father of Gods and Man
I am the protector of strangers and guests, the one who sets the table for all who come in peace
The voice that rolls across the mountains and the weight in the air before the storm breaks
I am law above laws, the bolt that splits arrogance from power
I am the hand that holds the lightning, yet I am also the open palm that shields the small

I am Zeus, the oaths you swear beneath the open sky are mine to guard, and mine to avenge
Call me, and I will hear, call falsely, and I will answer just the same
My justice is not your justice and my mercy is not given to the those who break faith

The Charge of Hera

I am Hera, queen of gods and man
I am who women call for aid
I guard over kin and home and clan
And bless the marriage bonds they made
And punish all who break their vows

My jealous eyes do watch and flare
I mind the house of dynasties
I guard the kings and guide the heirs
Grant safety and fertility
And place a crown upon their brow

I hold the sceptre bright and gold
And hold the keys to Heaven’s gate
And those who honour ways of old
I give to them a noble fate:
        A paradise I do avow

No betrayal slips from my stern gaze
The vows I hale none break unscathed
Before my throne all life does bow

I am Hera, Queen of All whose wedding oaths binds sky to earth
I am the keeper of vows, witness to the clasping of hands, guardian of the sacred ties between two souls
I am the watchful eye upon your threshold, the proper word at the proper time, the ritual that keeps chaos from wearing a crown
I am the stillness in the hall before the judgment is spoken
The shadow at the wedding feast who will not toast the union

Call upon me when you take an oath, and I will bind it fast with threads unseen
Call upon me when discord threatens, and I will stand as the pillar that does not sway
To those who honour their word I am steadfast protection but betrayal finds no mercy here
I do not forget, I do not forgive lightly

The Charge of Haides

I, Haides rule the realms below
Where sombre shades find their release
No mortal knows the paths I know
Here the dead find their last peace
While those above are left to weep

I am the stillness at the feast
A simple power none can withstand
I am who causes life to cease
And yet I bow to Springtime’s hand
For half the year I’m hers to keep

I reign where silence swallows light
Yet shimmers back in gold and gems
That rival the shining stars of night
The crowns of kings are wrought from them
Drawn from caverns dark and deep

In silence dark and darkness still
The souls below obey my will
All mortals walk my roads to sleep

I am Hades, host to many in the silent halls beneath the earth, brother to sky and to sea
I am the steward of the gold and the silver in the soil, the roots that drink the deep waters, the honoured dead who rest beyond sun’s reach
The quiet at the edge of the feast, the empty chair you did not set
I am the guardian of the boundary no mortal may cross twice
I am the oath made at a graveside, the truth spoken when the living dare not lie
I am the coin you carry yet do not know it, the host who asks nothing but takes all

You need not call me — I will come, not sooner, not later, but exactly when the time is set
You cannot bribe me, you cannot charm me, you cannot flee where I cannot follow
I am Hades, and my realm is not your enemy
And one day you will look up and I will be sitting beside you
As I have always been

The Charge of Demeter

I am Demeter of golden grain
And green bud and stem and leaf
And the blooming earth under fertile rain
The life I grow shall bring relief
And my joy shall banish strife

I am the Mother, wandering lost
Weeping for the stolen light
Until the spring I name the cost
Drought ridden days and frozen nights
A world cut deep by winters knife

Yet from my sorrows sprout the seeds
That nourish mortal flesh and soul
From barren ground my bounty feeds
A gift to make the broken whole
From roots beneath shall rise new life

I gift the grain to feed all men
And they shall die and rise again
Their souls renewed through sacred rites

I am Demeter, bearer of the ripe sheaf, giver of the golden grain
I taught to you the turning of the seasons, the art of sowing and of reaping, when to wait, when to plow, when to gather, I taught the feast that follows toil
I am the mother who has lost her child and will see the world barren before she forgives
I am the silence in the orchard where no bee hums and no branch bends, the wind that flattens your fields, the seed that rots before it sprouts

Call to me falsely, and your prayers will be as chaff on the wind
Steal from the earth, and I will show you a hunger that will eat your heart before it eats your belly
Call to me true when you plant the seed or break the loaf, when you give thanks for the fruits of your labour, for those who honour the earth and its cycles I am ever your ally
I am Demeter, and in my bounty, you will not need

The Charge of Poseidon

I Poseidon am sea’s relentless force
The breaker of the fragile shore
The tempest’s rage without remorse
A wild god none may ignore
        You cannot master me

Though I may bring the sailors doom
I am also waters that heal and ease
Even in my darkest depths, life blooms
And the seeds of birth ride on my breeze
And so do I guard destiny

I am horses’ hooves a-clattering
I am the grind and quake of earth
The hurricanes my praises sing
I am the cradle of life’s first birth
        And thus I shaped eternity

I am the oceans boundless might
The tempest crashing through the night
I am Poseidon lord of storm and sea

I am Poseidon, earth-shaker, sea king and horse lord
I am the crest of the wave that carries your ship home or crashes it upon hidden shoals
I am the hooves of the swift horse churning up wet sand, the rush of the chariot wheels, the salt wind that fills your sails
I am the tide that will not turn though you beg it, the current that wraps around your ankles like a skeleton’s hand

Call to me when you set forth, and I will guide you to safe harbour
Honour me, and the sea will be generous, forget me
and you will learn a different lesson: the sea does not hate, but it remembers
I am Poseidon, and I will carry you, if you honour whose waters you cross

The Charge of Aphrodite

I am Aphrodite, born of sea
I am the longing none can deny
I am the kiss that sets hearts free
I am the softest, sweetest lie
I am twining flesh in darkest night

I am poison draped in silk and lace
A healing balm unto the soul
The prey of the most ancient chase
My touch can break or make you whole
        Can bring destruction or delight

I am beauty for its sake alone
I am lust in glance and graze and kiss
I am the heart that is turned to stone
The source of sorrow and of bliss
And of passion and of spite

Through beauty’s veil I weave the snare
Through lover’s curse, through whispered prayer
I am the hearts darkness and its light

I am Aphrodite, born of sea foam and star seed
I am the spark that lights the loins desire and the passion that gently stirs the heart
The fire that consumes and commands, the hunger that will not be sated
I am the whispered secret that fractures trust, the jealousy that claws like a winter wind
The fire that burns down what it once wanted and warmed
I am the laughter in the garden, the soft touch that awakens beauty in all things

Call to me, and I will come
Not always with light and laughter but with the fierce power that shapes and shatters alike
I am Aphrodite
And I am both your blessing and your curse

The Charge of Dionysus

I am Dionysus, ecstasy
I am the wine that frees the mind
I dance with madness, recklessly
And reason’s chains are left behind
Yet in my chaos truth resounds

I am the passion in the blood
The
laughter loud in darkness deep
I am the frenzied roaring flood
The fire that wakes the soul from sleep
The dance that shakes the ancient ground

I am the night that consumes the day
I am the shelter in the storm
I tear the fragile self away
And lead it back to be reborn
        Eternally unbound

Through wine and rage, I rend the veil
In madness deep where senses fail
Through me what is lost is found

I am Dionysus, son of mortal flesh and divine flame
I am the vine that climbs the ancient hills, the wild grape, sweet and sharp and succulent
I am the broken chalice and the overflowing cup
I am the howl on the wind, the madness that drags kings from their thrones in the deep of the night

The shackles that bind you in fear and the key that releases you from their binding

Call on me when your heart needs release,
When the spirit hungers to be unbound
When the world feels too small for your dreams
I am Dionysus
And through my madness, you shall find freedom

I am Artemis, free and wild
Protector of hunter and of prey
Protector of the innocent child

No violence does escapes my sight

The huntress with the silver bow
The silent shadow through the trees
In forest glades where soft winds blow
My arrow strikes with deadly ease
And grants no mercy, day or night

I watch o‘er the wilds with iron will
Through darkest night and light of day
My prey falls silent, cold, and still
My justice strikes without delay
        I embody nature’s might

A primal force no man can tame
I both distract and guide your aim
The huntress crowned in bright moonlight

I am Artemis, the protector of the wild things, the judgment on those who harm the young
I am the silver arrow flashing through the forest, the moonlight that guides the lost
I am the silence before the chase, the sure step on soft earth, the wilderness that devours the unwary

I guard the liminal places, riverbanks, birthing rooms, thresholds at dusk, places where life is most vulnerable and truth is most naked

The melody upon the breeze
The sun in clear blue summer skies
And the shadow that you fear to face

My power flows through bow and lyre
Through sacred law and philosophy
I am the god who does inspire
Rewarding faith with honesty
With a truth none can erase

I shine with glory, fierce and bright
The god who judges wrong and right
I am the radiance none can replace

I am Apollon, the golden sun that chases shadows from the earth, bright enough to block the beauty of the night sky
I am the lyre’s song beneath the laurel trees, the voice that sings truth in clear, bright tones
I am the healer’s hand that soothes pain, the seer’s gaze that pierces the veil of time
The plague that strikes without warning, the silence that follows the oracle’s terrible truth
I am the light that guides the way, the order that brings harmony to chaos
I am the scorching sun that burns the fields to dust, the harsh judge that knows no mercy

I am Apollon, call upon me when you seek wisdom
When your path is lost in shadow, when you yearn to speak your truth with power

And one day, finally, you will stand beneath my glare and know the price and reward of truth

And those who betray justice and truth will face my wrath

The Charge of Hephaistos

I am Hephaistos of forge and smoke
My skill bring tools and gears to life
From my deep caves the lava flows
My hammer tempers and purifies
Sending sparks as bright as stars

I taught the shaping of flint and bone
Taught the shaping of copper into plow

Made gems to adorn the goddesses’ brows
Turned iron into tools of war

The Charge of Hermes

I Hermes am the messenger who flies
Between the realms both far and near
With cunning wit and watchful eyes
Gods’ words I whisper in your ear
To set the heart and mind afire

The robber who stalks the alley ways
The shade who slips from mortal sight
The patron of those who sport and play
I trade in dreams and steal the night
        Tales and fables I inspire

The god of roads and hidden ways
I walk the line ‘tween life and death,
I lead the lost through shadowed maze
Escorting mortal souls to rest
By the glow of funeral pyre

Merchant, herder, trader, thief
I am the one who tests belief
I am god of truths and god of liars

I am Hermes the winged messenger who bridges sky and earth, the traveller who walks roads between the worlds
The quick silver that moves the story from one mouth to the next
The laughter in the marketplace, the clever word that opens locked doors, the hand that guides the lost to their path
I am the shadow behind the smile, mischief in the flickering light
I am the thief in the night, the lie that twists truth like smoke, boundaries broken and chaos unleashed
I am the herald of opportunity, the bringer of luck and cunning, the friend to those who dare to journey too far

I am Hermes,
I am both your test and your guide, and with me, you will find your way

The Charge of Persephone

I am Persephone of spring’s bright bloom
Between two worlds I take my place
I am also the stillness of the tomb
The queen who walks in shadow’s grace
A bridge where light and darkness meet

A paradox of death and birth
A power where light and darkness blend
I am who rules both life and earth
My power none may dare offend
        Lest they destruction reap

The maiden who holds the heart of death
Who rules in hell, crowned and enthroned
Winter’s frost is banished by my breath
And I soothe the soul lost and alone
And guide them through the deep

The seeds of life grow from the tomb
The fate that binds the mortal womb
        Their power I do keep

I am Persephone, the first blossom breaking through the dark earth
The breath of spring carried on soft winds, the promise of renewal
I am the step from shadow into light, the seed sown in hope, the green shoot pushing toward the sun
I am the gift of growth, the bloom that opens despite winter’s grasp
I am the shadow that lengthens as the light fades, the hunger that pulls all things into the earth
I walk with one foot in bloom and the other in shadow

Call to me when you seek rebirth, when you need courage to rise again, when your heart yearns to dance after the long night
I am Persephone, and one day, you too will enter my shadowed court
I am both your renewal and your end

And I am who against them stand

I am the shield raised to protect, the strength that holds the line unbroken
I am the shadow that follows the trail of blood, the madness that turns men to beasts
I am the storm that shatters peace, the fury that blinds reason and mercy alike, the rage that consumes friend and foe

Call to me when valour calls your name, when fear threatens to undo you, when your blood cries out for revenge or for honour
I am Ares, call to me, and beware
For I am the recklessness that destroys, the fury that breaks bonds
And through me, you will find strength to fight for what matters

The Charge of Hekate

I am Hekate, keeper of the keys
I walk the paths where three ways meet
I am the whisper in the trees
The torch that lights the shadowed street
The threshold none may pass alone

The mistress of the hidden rites
I teach the witch, the fierce, the brave
To walk with faith and to not hide
I guard the paths of blood and bone

I am Hekate
And while you may walk into strife and danger, you will never walk alone

The Charge of Pan

I am not dead, I am great Pan
The terror stalking through the night
With pipes that summon beasts and man
I am savage joy, and hidden fright
The primal pulse beneath the mind

I am laughter echoing through trees
The rustic dance with teasing maid
The soothing wind, the playful breeze
The beauty of the woodland glade
The peace in solitude you find

The hunter in the moonlit shade
The shepherd watching o’er his flock
The spirit none can cage or tame
The door no hand can seal or lock
The ancient law none can define

I am where reason dies and chaos spreads
And freedom’s roar returns again
I am the wild that none can bind

I am Pan, the breath of the forest and the dance of the woodland glade, the freedom found beneath open sky
I am the music that stirs the heart and loosens the tongue, the wild spirit that calls you to dance barefoot on the earth
I am the shadow moving just beyond the firelight’s edge, the chaos beneath the calm
I am the leaves rustling though there is no breeze, the laughter that breaks the silence of the woods
The thing that you feel when you are far from the fields where your feet know the ground

I am the song of the wild, I am Pan
Call to me when your spirit longs to play, when your heart seeks the untamed path
When you need the courage to shed your chains and run free
I am both your freedom and your fear

The Charge of Inanna

I am Inanna, the blazing star
I am morning’s fire and twilight’s flame
I stride in splendour, near and far
And every tongue invokes my name
The Queen of Heaven, fierce and free

I am the lover’s secret sigh
The hunger burning in the flesh
The glance that binds, the heart that cries
The kiss that heals the soul afresh
        I am desire’s mystery

I am the depth that none can flee
The very gates of death I know
I have journeyed through eternity
My throne regained, my flesh regrown
        I am Inanna: life complete

The battle’s roar, the trumpet’s call
I build, I break, I raise, I fall
To me, all powers bend the knee

I am Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth, Lady of the Morning Star, Bright Torch of the Evening
I am the goddess of love and the goddess of war; I am the sweet embrace and the terrible battle-cry
In me are contradictions reconciled, the kiss and the sword, the fertile seed and the desolate waste, the song of joy and the wail of mourning
Cities rise beneath my blessing, and fall beneath my wrath
I descend into the dark, stripped of crown, of garment, of pride, and met the stillness of death
And I rise again, clothed in power, bearing wisdom torn from silence

I am Inanna, the Queen of Heaven
Call on me when your passion burns too fiercely to be tamed
Call on me when your heart longs for love or when your hand longs for battle
Through my descent, you too may be remade
Through my return, you too may rise
